Cross Cutting : Local Epidemiology

As the diseases and scientific and technical issues of interest to CSTE members transcend jurisdictions, state and local epidemiologists alike are invited to participate in subcommittees that focus on specific topics. The local epidemiology subcommittee is working to define the role of local epidemiologists both in CSTE and in interfacing with other organizations such as NACCHO, the National Association of County and City Health Officials. A key part of this effort is identifying issues that are of particular interest to local epidemiologists that are not currently represented by other subcommittees as well as representing local epidemiologists, whose roles and the health departments they serve vary widely.

Subcommittee members have ongoing discussions to better define the role of this subcommittee and to work with NACCHO to find common areas of interest and to define the relationship between CSTE and NACCHO. CSTE members are encouraged to join the discussion and to bring up issues that are of particular interest to local epidemiology.
