Disaster Epidemiology Tool Repository

The CSTE Disaster Epidemiology (DE) subcommittee has identified the need to share information among state, local, and federal epidemiologists on disaster related methods, tools, and lessons learned.

To meet this need, the DE subcommittee has created a repository of DE tools and related guidance on their uses. This repository will serve as a resource for local, state, federal partners where experiences can be shared and where examples of forms, surveys and other tools developed and used in disaster response can be rapidly accessed and modified for use in other areas. Topic areas include:

  • Shelter surveillance
  • Syndromic surveillance
  • Mortality surveillance
  • Morbidity surveillance
  • Community health impacts rapid needs assessments (CASPER surveys), including mental health and long term consequences

If you or your state would like to share disaster epidemiology-related tools and activities, please email the tool(s) or the publicly accessible website URL(s) to Hayleigh McCall at . Please note: CSTE is not seeking the data generated during the response, nor any other confidential or restricted information. These tools have been collected by CSTE but they are not necessarily endorsed or recommended by CSTE. CSTE will cross-reference DE tools with the CDC Disaster Epidemiology Community of Practice—this is a secure site operated by the National Center for Environmental Health.
