Why become a student member?
Starting a career in public health epidemiology is competitive for new graduates. Through CSTE, undergraduate and graduate student members gain exposure to the most important elements lacking in a classroom education, including the rare opportunity to engage professionals contributing to substantive, real-world projects. Through CSTE, you can strengthen your connections, practical skills, and career goals as you gain awareness of applied epidemiology practice on a national scope. Successful epidemiology students are actively taking advantage of CSTE’s many professional growth opportunities:
  • Network with local, state, and federal epidemiologists
  • Build skills and experience towards your future career
  • Stay in the know about general and specialized news, publications, and events through e-mail updates, social media, and subcommittee activities
  • Hone in on your epidemiologic specialization through subcommittees
  • Gain access to mentorship and internship opportunities
  • Find jobs at the career center
  • Talk about professional development with CSTE fellows
Who are CSTE members?
CSTE’s nearly 2000 members represent applied public health epidemiologists from all jurisdictions across the United States, spanning all public health specializations. Members lead impactful national policy and programmatic change through the projects of specialized subcommittees and stewarding Nationally Notifiable Diseases and Conditions. CSTE also engages with federal agencies and Congress, manages the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship (AEF) program, hosts the Annual Conference, and builds workforce capacity.
