CSTE’s Early Career Professionals Subcommittee aims to support epidemiologists and students transitioning into careers in applied epidemiology. The subcommittee works to engage members and public health partners to promote the exploration of applied epidemiology careers and professional development.
The ECP subcommittee holds quarterly webinars and calls on topics relevant to professional growth, such as pursuing advanced degrees in public health and other sciences, finding and applying for applied epidemiology jobs, networking, and building skills such as grant writing.
The primary activity of the subcommittee is to support the Early Career Professionals Mentorship Program. This successful CSTE program builds relationships and fosters shared learning among applied epidemiologists. The 10-month virtual mentorship program matches mentees and mentors on common interests and their motivation for participating in the program. Mentees are epidemiologists with less than five years of work experience or current students while mentors have at least five years of work experience. Applications are typically available in August-September each year.
Subcommittee Co-Chairs: Rosie Glenn-Finer Rosie.Glenn-Finer@cdph.ca.gov and Julie Coco Julie.Coco@mass.gov.
