  Introduction to Letter Process

  • Throughout the year, CSTE Letters are developed by members to document a specific action or series of actions requested by CSTE membership of an external individual, agency, or organization. Letters may accompany CSTE briefs if action is needed on the brief’s topic. Letters may be developed in a CSTE Subcommittee or Steering Committee and primary authors must be Active Members of CSTE.
  • Letters are not constrained by a submission timeline and may be developed at any time, though each letter is subject to a review process and must comply with the Policy for Obtaining Official CSTE Signature for Letters of Advocacy.
  • Please note that letters developed and approved via this process will be signed by the Executive Director and CSTE President (or Executive Officer designee).
  • Letters need to have at least one addressee. Electronic and mailing addresses for each addressee must be included upon letter submission.
  • Letters should be submitted electronically to letters@cste.org.

  Letter Review Process

  • First level: Appropriate Subcommittee Chair, Steering Committee Chair, and CSTE Program Manager will review, provide feedback to primary author for reconciliation, and make approval decision to move letter to second review level.
  • Second level: Executive Director and CSTE President (or Executive Officer designee), in consultation with CSTE Executive Officers.
  • Approved letters will be sent to individual(s)/agency(ies) listed in each letter and posted on the CSTE Website within 10 business days after approval.
  • Letter responses will be shared with primary author and Executive Board and posted on the CSTE Website upon receipt.
