Surveillance / Informatics: Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) Workgroup 

eCR Workgroup Co-Chairs: Sara Mader, RN, MPH, Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Melanie Epstein-Corbin, MPH, California Department of Public Health

The eCR Workgroup meets monthly to convene staff from state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) public health agencies (PHAs) participating in eCR implementation activities and other key stakeholders, including CDC, Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), and health IT developers and vendors, to improve eCR reporting through informing policy and procedures. The eCR Workgroup facilitates information sharing and identifying best practices regarding eCR processes including:

  • Onboarding
  • eCR implementation, including RCKMS authoring
  • Healthcare Organization (HCO) production data
  • HCO testing practices
  • Integration with existing systems
  • PHA validation methods and procedures
  • Centralized tools to support PHAs
  • Identifying opportunities to collaborate with key stakeholders who influence the trajectory of public health data exchange standards and utilization including APHL, CDC, ONC, EHRA, HL7 International, TEFCA
