Infectious Disease Forecasting and Modeling Workgroup
 
 

Purpose

The Infectious Disease Forecasting and Modeling Workgroup is a community of practice for those involved in forecasting and modeling for public health. This forum provides the opportunity for engaged conversation between applied epidemiologists and data scientists in health agencies nationwide as well as analytic teams from academia and private industry.
 

Goals

  • Engage in discussion and share best practices in forecasting and modeling for public health purposes
  • Facilitate collaboration between public health agencies and modeling teams
  • Identify avenues for sustained collaboration on disease-specific modelingTranslate questions from public health officials to modelers and from modelers to public health officials
  • Identify barriers and facilitators to incorporating modeling in day-to-day public health activities
  • Develop effective public health communication strategies for disease forecasts
  • Increase the use of forecasts and models in public health decision-making
