About the Award

The CSTE Fellowship Alumnus Award recognizes outstanding former fellows for their leadership and impact in applied epidemiology. The award honors the legacy of Pat McConnon, former CSTE Executive Director, for his contributions to workforce development and fellowship programs.

This award is open to alumni from the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship and other CSTE fellowship programs.

📌 Nomination Guidelines

Nominees must be graduates of the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship or one of the three Project SHINE fellowships and currently employed at the state, local, tribal, or territorial level.

Nominations should include a one-page letter detailing the nominee’s professional dedication and accomplishments since completing the fellowship, with specific examples.


🔍 Review Process

Nominations are evaluated by a review committee including:

  • CSTE Executive Board members
  • Fellowship mentors
  • Applied Epidemiology Fellowship alumni

Evaluations are based on the nominee’s alignment with the award’s values and purpose.
