"Robert Wood Johnson Foundation National Award for Outstanding Epidemiology Practice in Addressing Racial and Ethnic Disparities" |
In 2007, CSTE received funding by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to recognize a presenter at the Annual Conference who best exhibits an effort towards making significant contributions to address racial and ethnic disparities and improve
public health practice through effective use of data and epidemiology. CSTE awards one individual a plaque and an honorarium valued at $1,000 annually at the CSTE Annual Conference.

Nomination Guidelines
|
This award is self-nominated. During the online abstracts submission process, potential presenters who submit abstracts to the CSTE Annual Conference may indicate that their presentation is eligible. Only abstracts accepted to the CSTE
Annual Conference are eligible. Eligible abstracts are those that focus primarily on racial/ethnic health disparities.

Review
|
The CSTE RWJF Award Committee reviews nominated abstracts from those submitted to the CSTE Annual Conference. Authors and/or abstract reviewers can nominate an abstract for the award based on the following eligibility requirements:
- Abstracts must be primarily focused on racial and/or ethnic health disparities
- Award recipient must work in a state, local, tribal, or territorial health agency
- Finalists must be selected to present their work as a poster or oral presentation at the Annual Conference by the planning committees
The selected finalists are asked to submit their presentation materials and written narratives for a second round of review by the committee. The committee selects a winner for the RWJF Disparities Award based on the following criteria:
- Impact of work to the field of eliminating health disparities
- Contribution to practice/Translation to practice
- Policy implications for long-term change in eliminating and preventing health disparities
- Quality of breakout session presentation
