About the Award

Established in 2010, the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship (AEF) Mentor of the Year Award recognizes primary or secondary mentors who provide exceptional training, guidance, support, and dedication to the professional growth of their fellows.

The award celebrates the essential role mentors play in shaping the experience of fellows in the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship program.

📌 Nomination Guidelines

Graduating fellows may submit a one-page nomination letter for their primary mentor. The letter should highlight how the mentor excelled in:

  • Providing guidance and support
  • Being accommodating and dedicated
  • Fostering professional development
  • Demonstrating breadth and depth of experience

🔍 Review Process

A four-member committee of previous fellows—including one who has also served as a mentor—reviews nominations using a detailed scoring rubric based on the criteria above.
