Surveillance Case Definitions for Injury Hospitalization and Emergency Department Visits provide ICM-10-CM code recommendations that should be considered for case selection.  Additional selection criteria may be needed for creating an analysis file.  For example, state of residence, discharge status, inclusion of deaths and hospital type may also be important criteria to consider.
